I grew up in Northern Ireland and came to this country in my twenties, quite a long time ago. From an early age I drew and my first big project came when I was eleven, a large school mural representing the seasons of the year, filled with active people. I can still remember the thrill and the support I received from my teacher, Mr. Alexander. At the Ulster College of Art and Design, I spent four years studying. My major was Printed Textile Design. When I graduated I worked in the color/design studio of Tootal Fabrics in Manchester, England. It was wonderful job, high quality paper and hours experimenting with color.
Over the many years since, I have used a variety of media to create with, at present my main loves are figure drawing in charcoal and conte, printing monotypes with oil based inks, hand painting on silk with silk dyes, and painting with acrylics.
I am delighted to participate in the Chair Affair, bringing at least three of my loves to the project.
