An artist’s statement is based upon how one feels at the moment, and even in the next hour it may not be 100% true. This becomes a problem for a person who seeks to be truthful and who does not want to make a pretentious, verbose statement. What can I say about my art that will always be true? When making art the amount of time that elapses often astounds me.

I am in love with color, enamored with design, and greatly enjoy the complications that I make for myself. I keep the lines open to my subconscious. Everywhere I see little pieces of paintings in my surroundings. My favorite work has the intense irrational reality of a dream. By sometimes creating humorous work and titles, I can poke fun at art stuffiness and pretension. Hopefully, the paintings I produce will enhance the life of the owner in some miniscule way. People are often disappointed when they first meet me because I look so normal.

Linda works from her studio in the West Hills of Portland, where she designs and handcrafts unique jewelry pieces that integrates precious metals and gemstones with her own unique silver or polymer pendants. Linda’s creations feature rich textures and colors, ranging from bold and expressive to small and delicate. Linda is also a member of Cracked Pots and loves to create mosaics and other found object art for home decoration. Her jewelry designs can be found at Dragonfire Gallery in Cannon Beach.

“Creating any work of art is both a meditative and spiritual process for me. I love being close to the natural world and the wild places on earth. Portland has a little bit of everything – lots of green space and a great urban core, which provide plenty of inspiration for my creativity.”
