Kerianne Christie
Growing up on Long Island, my first loves were the sound of the ocean, the feel of sand and the warmth of the sun. I wandered in woods, curled into small spaces both indoors and out and gathered “found” materials to create with. After scavenger hunts, discarded pillowcases were embroidered and recycled into throw pillows. I danced, sang in a choir, and believed in fairies. I spent (and continue to) every waking moment learning. I balanced stacks of books on the rack of my bicycle so tall that they required three bungee cords to hold them in place. I threw on an apron when my mother cooked, grabbed yarn when my grandmother crocheted, and changed into overalls when I saw a neighbor gardening. All along, my mother nurtured my artistic passions. She told me how my hands and creativity would take me a long way.
Since then, I have traveled different parts of the world, achieved numerous degrees, learned a new language, and all along continued to work with my hands. My interests wax and wane but I carry my love of books, appreciation of harmony and a touch of magical belief as the inspiration for everything I do.
