Kim Lakin
Originally trained as a painter, I shifted to fabric shortly after graduating from college. My first fabric piece mimicked my college paintings. I have been working with the textile medium for twenty years. Though my pieces are always abstract, I am deeply influenced by the study of symmetry in nature, proportion in architecture, and pattern across cultures. Color is also very important to me. I am currently working on a series of small textile pieces involving the broken square. I am always open to exploring new art mediums, mixing things, trying new things.
