Nancy Norman

My favorite work has the intense irrational reality of a dream. I am inspired by nature, life experiences, and by travels. I work from the memory of visual images and from the emotions that are created. A sign over my table reads, 'You can paint anything you want’, which gives me permission to paint fish in the sky or giant lizards in a coffeehouse or whatever I please. An idea for the title of a painting may come to me even before I have a vision of what it is I want to paint, as is often the case when the subject is humorous. I paint with music playing, getting lost in the sounds and hues, and the elapsed time usually astounds me.”

Nancy Norman has received numerous state, local, and international awards. She is known for her unusual and whimsical approach to subjects as well as for her vivid colors and designs. Her work is exhibited in Oregon at Dragonfire Gallery in Canon Beach, and in 2009, Sequoia Gallery in Hillsboro.

“This year I have chosen to donate a painting after seeing the paintings in the auction last year. This is what I do best and I am happy to donate a painting this year. I often paint chairs in my work!
