Cathy Rae Smith

Cathy Rae Smith fashions work encompassing multimedia sculptural exhibition to fine jewelry as decorative art, reverse glass paintings to commissioned iconic portraiture. Quality of light looms large in her lexicon of work, utilizing reflective elements such as gold leaf in much of her work. She also founded Culture, The Lifestyle Magazine, in the year 2000, which profiled celebrity creative professionals and distinctive personal spaces, ranging from Coco Chanel to Dale Chihuly. She served as its editor in chief and design director. She studied sculpture, filmmaking, art design, history of furniture and communication via Marylhurst University. Her love of travel and fashion has fueled her independent study of international style, with an emphasis on classical European elegance. Beauty serves as a motivating force to her work.

This year, being her second consecutive year producing a chair for this event, she finds inspiration with the attempts of capturing a brief moment of natural beauty with Papillion.
