Susan Stone
Food history is Susan Stone’s passion, and one of her specialties is making marzipan (almond paste) candies in the form of fruits and vegetables. Marzipan has existed since the 14th Century, and recipes for fantastic Tudor-style marzipan, some covered with gold leaf, were included in Martha Washington’s hand-written family cookbook.
Last year, as a lark, Susan created a marzipan chair for the Chair Affair. The process proved addictive. When Susan is not experimenting with strange dishes from the past or plying her friends and family with archaic sweets, she is Principal of the Stone-Sheridan Group, specializing in environmental public relations and conflict resolution.
