Kurumi Conley
Kurumi grew up in Kyoto, Japan. She got started in glasswork at her school, the Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan. Her study until that time had included ceramics and textiles, but she found herself attracted to the transparent characteristics of glass - the colors, and the illusion of liquidity inherent in the material. Living and working in Portland, Oregon, with her performance artist husband and two daughters, she has developed her own vocabulary combining flame-work, kiln-forming and cold-working techniques. |
