Marilyn C. Davis and Margaux Davis
The longer I work with watercolors, the more I realize that giving up control yields the best results. This is both the beauty and frustration of painting with watercolors.
Working throughout my life trying to reach my full potential as a painter, I strive toward that fine point of satisfaction. Having spent the past 35 years devoted to both teaching and creating my own art, I have always been influenced by my experiences of world travel and enthusiasm for nature. Combining scenes from years of living and traveling around the world , along with the colors and the shapes of nature, I try to capture the essence of a scene rather than copy it from photos I've taken.
I don't try to paint the way things really are, as much as how I feel about them. This holds true whether painting landscapes, a still life or people. For me, painting is emotional. Using colors and making them work together is the important thing. It's all about how colors reach and relate to each other. I strive to continually stretch myself and evolve in my work. For the CHAIR AFFAIR + I am pleased to be collaborating with my daughter, Margaux, who is an interior designer at an architecture firm. |
