B. Elliott-Gerlach
Elliott Gerlach has worked as a carpenter for over 20 years. Along the way, he developed an interest in designing and making home and garden furnishings from others' castoffs.
Characteristic of his work is an appreciation of "found art," in seeing the aesthetics of reclaimed materials. Using packing crates and dunnage from South America, Central America, India, Europe, Asia, or the local native woods of the Midwest, East and South, each is unique in its qualities and workability.
Working mostly in wood, Elliott also employs other media when possible, including copper, steel and other metals, as well as tiles or glass. "Ultimately, form and function is dictated by the resources at hand."
