Lois Gold

Lois Gold

Lois Gold, M.S.W. is a semi-retired therapist, mediator, and author. She started the first mediation center in Oregon in 1980 and was involved in the pioneering efforts in the field of alternative dispute resolution nationally. She was bitten by the glass bug five years ago and has been studying glass fusion and lamp work at Bullseye Glass. She creates fused glass serving pieces and platters, and individually handcrafted lamp worked jewelry. She does commissions and has had pieces in galleries at the Oregon coast.

She has always been involved in creative pursuits from pottery to photography to the “craft du jour”, but has never had the opportunity to immerse herself in serious study. “At this stage of life, I find myself fascinated intellectually by the creative process – particularly the element of surprise when a piece calls out to be something other than what was intended. Glass has its own chemistry and for me creating pieces is an organic process. The glass wants to talk to me, I just have to learn to listen.”
