Cindy McDougall
Family history celebrated in unusual artistic ways is the inspiration behind designer Cindy McDougall’s most recent creative endeavor. Living With Your Relatives refers to the line of ready made, and custom order pillows crafted in her Oak Grove studio. Antique and vintage photographs are transferred to fabric, layered among specialty textiles, trims, buttons and whatnots to create a one of a kind piece of very personal, original art.
Cindy earned her B.F.A. in Ballet and Musical Theater at the University of Utah. Immensely enjoying her role once to design and produce costumes for a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, music and theater continue to play a big part in the inspiration of all her work, including the education of her children.
Born in Los Angeles but raised in the Portland area from a young age, Cindy, her husband and their three sons live in a 1932 cottage that they gutted and rebuilt in 2003. She is a current member of the Lake Oswego Crafts and Art League (LOCAL 14), past President of the Board of Directors for the non-profit summer youth arts program Young Musicians & Artists, and volunteers for the Parents Teaching Prevention program run by the Oregon Partnership.
