Teresa VanderkinAs a native Portlander and former resident of the Oregon Coast, I find that my inspiration is continually drawn from the simple and elegant handiwork of nature. Interwoven through a lifetime of profound and mundane activities that compose a human life, I have found creative expression through colored pencil renderings, basket weaving, sewing and knitting, sculpture and woodwork, the gathering and combining of found materials, the creation and perennial recreation of my garden landscape, and through the joy I experience in the moving form of dance. I am currently collaborating with my partner, Andrew MacCorkindale, in the recreation of a ceramic studio in which we produce lovely high-fired porcelain vessels. With the recent debut showing of his new work, Andrew celebrated his return and recovery from critical injuries he suffered in a boating accident several years ago.
